'The Rock' to represent Iran at Academy Awards 2019

Iranian short film 'The Rock' is slated to represent Iran at the Academy Awards 2019.

Directed by Hamid Jafary, the film has been qualified to enter the Oscars alongside other Iranian short film 'Gaze' by Farnoush Samadi.

The short flick narrates the story of a woman who lives near the southwestern Iranian city of Ramhormoz.

Every day, she goes to the mountain with a sledgehammer and a crowbar in hand to smash and break the rocks so that she can sell them to provide for her family.

The Oscars is an annual US awards ceremony to honor cinematic achievements in the film industry.

The 91st Oscars will be held in 2019 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
